The saying goes, beautiful starts from within and that could never be so true! The industry is filled with supplements and products known to fight wrinkles, boost collagen and keep you looking younger. You are what you eat is such a true statement, so when it comes to anti-aging what we put in our bodies is SO important! Even more important than the hundreds of dollars we spend a year on creams and products…even though I do love some amazing skincare.
There are tons of ant-aging foods that can work wonders in fighting wrinkles, reducing inflammation and repairing collagen. I made a list of my top 5 below:
1. Blueberries
Blueberries are considered a superfood and one of the healthiest fruits you can eat. They have powerful antioxidant properties in them that help fight off free radicals, which may lead to slowing down aging. Add them to your smoothies, overnight oats, or eat them daily as a snack!
2. Green tea
Accelerated aging is normally caused by increased inflammation. Green tea contains numerous beneficial compounds in it such as antioxidants and phytochemicals that can decrease inflammation in the body. I try to drink a cup of green tea every night OR have some matcha in the morning.
3. Avocado
We all know avocados have so many health benefits including anti-aging ones. Fun fact: Research has shown people who eat diets higher in monounsaturated fats; the type of fat found in avocados, have a lower risk of severe facial skin aging. I love adding avocado to my smoothies or adding to my toast with breakfast, so good!!
4. Pomegranate seeds
Another healthy fruit, pomegranate seeds are high in vitamin C and a variety of potent antioxidants that may protect our body from free radical damage and reduce levels of inflammation in our system. They contain a compound called punicalagins, which may help to preserve collagen in the skin, slowing signs of aging. Eat them alone or add to a salad for something sweet!
5. Broccoli
Broccoli is packed with SO many things: vitamins C and K, a variety of antioxidants, fiber, folate, lutein and calcium. It’s an anti-inflammatory/anti-aging power food!! I love cooking my broccoli in the air fryer or eating it raw with hummus for an afternoon snack!
