5 Breakfast Foods That Will Boost Your Metabolism

Stop relying in multiple cups of coffee and expresso shots to get you through the morning/afternoon! If you constantly feel an afternoon slump, blame the food you are eating in the AM. Having a balanced breakfast will counteract fatigue and keep your energy up during the day.

Breakfast is truly so important because it breaks the overnight fasting period. Your body gets a replenishment of nutrients that will boost your energy levels. Eating a balanced diet of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs in the AM will not only boost your metabolism but also will release energy throughout the day.

Bananas- a great source of complex carbs + potassium. They also have a good amount of fiber which slows down sugar being released into your bloodstream. AKA you will get energy that lasts through your day/afternoon.

Sweet potatoes- add some sweet potatoes to your eggs in the morning, not only do they improve gut health but they also release sugar slowly. Also, their high magnesium content helps reduce stress and anxiety.

Oatmeal- the best complex carbs you can have in the morning. Eating oatmeal promotes the slow release of energy vs eating a donut.

Green tea- rich in caffeine and L-theanine, both of which can enhance alertness and focus. It doesn’t give you a caffeine rush like coffee but instead gives you sustained energy for several hours.

Chia seeds- expand in your stomach after being digested which keeps you full longer. They’re packed with antioxidants, protein, fat, and fiber too.
