Two is sometimes better than one, especially when it comes to certain food pairings! When you pair certain foods together they can provide more nutrients than if you eat certain ones on their own. Sharing some of my favorite pairings that are not only nutrient dense but also tasty…which is just as important haha!
-Salsa and Guacamole
Avocados are healthy fats but they also help your body absorb the main antioxidant (lycopene) in tomatoes.
-Red Bell Peppers and Black Beans
Black beans are filled with iron and when paired with vitamin c-rich red peppers the body absorbs the iron better in the black beans.
-Carrots and Walnuts
Beta-carotene which is found in carrots is better absorbed with fat. Opt for walnuts which are full of healthy fats.
-Salad Greens and EVOO
Combining fatty oils with salad helps increase the availability of vitamins and minerals in the veggies.
-Cheese and Eggs
Egg yolks provide your body with vitamin D, which helps the body more easily absorb the calcium found in cheese.
